Just as refilling an inktjet cartridge, you can also refill a toner cartridge.

After the refill, the printer works fine, the only problem I had that after refilling

the black cartridge, the printer still detected the cartridge as empty, and I got

totally no reaction or support from tonerrefillkits, inspite of their promise

to react within 3 hours to a support call.

I found a solution myself on the internet though.

1. Turn on the printer

2. Push the button on the front of the printer to open the cartridge door.

Don't remove the cartridges.

3. Push the numeric button 1 to bring up a reset menu. There are 9 different

toner functions (for simplicity, three K's, three C's, three M's, and

three Y's).

4. For each of these nine functions in turn, push the O.K. button and then push it

again to indicate 'Reset'. After a few seconds, it will say 'Accepted' and will

then display a message that the cover is open.

5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each of the 9 toner functions.

6. When finished, close the door and the status bar will be reset to normal with

To get to the reset menu, hit the stop/exit button. then the number 3 and 9 at the same time.

When the replace drum message appears the instructions below will allow you to reset the drum counter back to zero

Printer is turned on and ready to print.

Open the front cover of the printer.

Remove the drum unit (with the toner cartridge installed) from the printer.

Re-install the drum unit and installed toner cartridge

Press Clear.

To confirm you are installing a new drum, press 1.

When the LCD shows Accepted, close the front cover of the machine.

For touchscreen printers

Press Stop/Exit to interrupt the error temporarily.

Press Menu.

Press the Up or Down arrow key to display Machine Info.. Press Machine Info..

Press Reset Menu.

Press Drum.

The machine will display Reset Drum?

Press Yes, and then press Stop/Exit.

Will I ever have to buy a drum?

The answer to this question is YES. Our reset information above will allow you to extend the life of your drum unit considerably, but you will need to replace the drum unit when it can no longer produce a quality printed page.
