Millennials: Reaching and Teaching Digital Natives
In this presentation, you will learn about the Millennials. They (Born after 1980) are bringing more to the colleges than tattoos, flip-flops, low-hanging saggy pants that expose body parts or undergarments, and iPods. They have new ways of learning to communicate, collaborate and get things done via new technology.
I will explore the millennial generation, identify its unique characteristics, and provide some strategies for teaching and working with these students.
Did you know that the Millenials:
Are about 100 million in population?
Are America’s most ethnically and racially diverse generation?
Are Internet and I.T. Immersed?
Are digital natives in a land of digital immigrants?
Like to communicate via the Web?
Want to learn with technology, with each other online, in their time and place, doing things that matter?
Think technology is essential to education?
Spend $275 billion a year?
Are over-programmed and over-stressed?
Depending on the needs of your group or organization, this presentation may last from 1 to 3 hours.
