Dr. Khosrowshahi (Dr.K.) is a professor of political science, a Fulbright scholar, and founder and director of the International Projects at Tyler Junior College. He also teaches at the University of Texas at Tyler as-needed basis. He is an award-winning teacher and speaker, and has received dozens of prestigious awards as follows:
1. The "Texas Professor of the Year Pictures " by the Carnegie Foundation and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education in Washington, D.C in 2005.
2. He is also a recipient of the Piper Professor award in 2010.
3. In 2009 and 2015, he received the "Rick Diamond Teaching Excellence Award".
4. In 2009, he was awarded the recipient of "Endowed Chair Award for Teaching Excellence" by his peer.
5. He was the winner of the Mattie Alice Scroggin Baker (Excellence in Teaching) Award in 2008.
6. He received Dr. Martin Luther King's Award for non-violent social change.
7. In 2012, Dr.K. was the winner of "the Best Adviser of Year" award.
He has been a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin, the United States Institute of Peace and Rice University, a Fulbright Scholar at Turkey, Thailand, and Mexico. He serves as an ex officio board member and chair of travel award committee at the Middle East Outreach Council (Nationwide network of Middle East centers).
Dr. K. is an Internet veteran of 30 years and an e-learning scholar. He has been offering the online courses since 1996 via cyber-learning to prepare students to be digital citizens of the world. As a technology consultant, he has given many convocation speeches, conducted technology training sessions for faculty and students around the country.
"Dr. K." is a recipient of numerous grants from the United States Department of Education, Middle East Institute, Middle East Policy Council, United States Institute of Peace, Texas Council for the Humanities (NEH), and the Texas Commission on the Arts to name only a few. He is a frequent speaker to academic, civic and religious groups.
As a global education advocate, he has extensive fieldwork and travel experience in the Middle East, Far East, Near East, and South America. Partnering with Johnson County Community College (Kansas), Dallas Community College, and Sam Houston University, he has launched travel/study programs in Turkey and Greece. He has been a consultant to the State Department, the National Security Educational Program of Defense Department and Department of Education. As part of his research in international education, he has traveled to Greece, Turkey (since 1998 thirty times), Greece, Costa Rica, England, Japan, Thailand, Iran, Germany, Canada, and Mexico. He is fluent in English, Azeri Turkish, Modern Turkish (some), Farsi/Dari, and Arabic (some). He has taken over 2,000 college students, faculty and community members to Turkey since 1990. His many years of traveling and teaching experience enable him to offer the travelers his deepest understanding of the mysteries of the Middle East, Greece, and Turkey.
He has initiated a number of new projects through his grants to establish outreach programs, speaker's bureau, International Day activities, and programs. The "Middle East Outreach Program" is one of the most active projects at Tyler Junior College.
