Merhaba (Hello) and welcome to the home page for the Fulbright-Hays Faculty Professional Development Seminar in Turkey Project.
Under the Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad program of the US Department of Education, Tyler Junior College sponsored a five week faculty professional development seminar in Turkey during the summer of 1998,1999 and 2001. The projects were directed by Dr. Manoucher Khosrowshahi of Tyler Junior College. Middle East Technical University (Orta Dogu Teknik Üniversitesi) was the host institution in Turkey. The purposes of the seminars are to enhance professional competence of individual teachers, to enrich the curriculum in the social studies and humanities, and to develop a well-rounded program in Turkish studies, Middle East studies or global education.
This site is designed to share the information gathered through our observations, experiences, and scholarly lectures.

The following poem by the 1999 Fulbright participants is a very revealing story:
The Fulbright Sultan
Whilist maintaining a calm
Ever so keen
Through beautiful Turkey you
Brought us fifteen
You charmed us with your
Pleasant smile
By your magic tricks we
Were beguiled
Our days were filled from head
To toe
With thousands of things we
Did not know
Your merry way a guiding beam
Made our stay in Turkey
A living dream
To all bureaucrats in
Washington
We say, Hail to Manoucher,
He's Fulbright Sultan!
Thank you!
