Chapter Summary:
In this chapter, we make the case that social skills are important to students’ success and that social skills instruction should be considered as part of a comprehensive three-tiered approach to SW-PBIS and classroom management. We discussed types of social skills problems, methods for assessing social skills, curricula for teaching social skills, and strategies for ensuring that students acquire and use newly learned social skills.

Describe the types of socialization problems and strategies for remediating each type of problem.
Describe social skills interventions for universal-level and targeted and/or tertiary levels of schoolwide positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS).
Describe criteria for choosing a social skills curriculum.
