Jakarta Globe; march 29 2012
Jambi. The Jambi Culture and Tourism Office hopes to register the province’s Merangin Geopark for recognition as a Unesco World Heritage Site by 2015.
The park in the Indonesian province is home to at least 13 archeological sites with fossils as old as 250 million years.
The agency has been gathering data on the park since last year, a project that has involved geologists, archeologists and paleontologists from various research institutions and universities.
