Longhorsley Art Group took part in the King Lear Prize competition this year. This is a national competition for both amateur and more experienced artists. There were over 6000 entries and we have been told the standard of work was exceptionally high.
Unfortunately we were not prize winners, but had great fun creating a wide range of art works, from wood carving to fused glass, drawings, paintings, printing and collage.
If you would like to join us, we meet on the second and fourth Fridays each month from 2pm in the Village Hall. There will be only one meeting in December, on the 8th December, then again on the 12th and 26th January.

The History Society were all at sea for our last meeting on 14th November.
We were delighted to welcome 4 members of The Friends of LV50 to tell us all about this historic lightship. It was one of many floating lighthouses stationed on particularly dangerous rock areas, mainly around the south coast. Built in 1879, LV50 is one of only 3 remaining of the original ships and is now moored in Blyth Harbour where it welcomes visitors, groups and school parties to learn about the ship and life on board for the crew.
Our next meeting is on Tuesday 9th January and will be an open evening where we will display items from our collection of the village history and be showing videos of events in the village.
The Village Hall will be open from 6.30pm. Admission is free, so why not come along and learn a little bit more about our lovely village, all welcome.
