The next Parish Council meeting will be held on Wednesday, 9th July, in the Village Hall, starting at 7pm, with a parishioner slot at 8pm. Meeting notices are displayed on village notice boards, with minutes and other information found on the Parish Council website.

At the Parish Council Meeting held on 11th June, 2025, Members received the Annual Internal Audit Report 2024/25. Members also received, considered and approved the Annual Governance Statement, Annual Accounting Statements and supporting documents for 2024/25.
All financial statements and supporting documents have now been forwarded to our External Auditors, MAZARs, for review and therefore please note that all Accounting Statements are currently “unaudited and subject to change”.
The Notice of Electors Rights and Inspection dates, running from 20th June to 31st July, were also agreed and have been placed on the website and Village noticeboard.
If anybody would like to become a Volunteer with the Friends of Longhorsley Green Spaces please contact Cllr. Sarah Alcock. There is a lot of work that the Friends would like to carry out in the Village, small outdoor jobs. No experience is necessary and no commitment is needed, just your time as and when you can.
Please use the Local authority “Fix my street” service to report things such as Fly Tipping, Street Lighting, Broken Paving Slabs.
The link is fix.northumberland.gov.uk. Once logged the system will update the next working day.
As summer rushes on we are busy with road schemes across the County and some bits near the village are in the system for later this year.
I have asked for more speed camera deployment as the holiday season will soon be here and the A697 is bound to be used more as the traffic avoids jams on the A1.
As always please let me know if I can help with anything.

Brinkburn and Hesleyhurst parish council are hosting a free event at Embleton Terrace playing field (NE65 8JJ) to showcase what our climate change and biodiversity group have achieved over the last year. We will be providing afternoon tea and refreshments in a marquee on the field. There are stands for like-minded groups around promotion for wildlife and nature. This is an educational event which will also have crafts and activities for children and adults. There will be entry forms for our free workshops for scything and hedge laying. Call in anytime between 2pm and 5pm to have a cuppa and a chat.
To find out more or if you would like a place at this event contact our parish Clerk Garth Rhodes clerk@brinkburn.net.
This event has been funded by the Wingates Community Wind Farm Fund and the marquee will be provided by The Simonside Country Fair.
We are sad to announce the passing of Mrs Doreen Pickering, who has passed away peacefully in hospital. Doreen was known to many people in the village, a place she loved dearly and enjoyed living her life. For anyone who knew her and would like to attend there will be a funeral service at 11.15am on Thursday 3 July 2025 at Northumberland Woodland Burial & Crematorium, Bockenfield.
There will be a collection box at the service for the Northumberland Wildlife Trust, any donations would be appreciated instead of flowers.
Thank you.
Parcel delivery scams are becoming increasingly common. Ones involving texts and emails are known as phishing scams, and aim to trick you into giving away your personal information and financial details, so your bank account and money can be accessed.
One way scammers do this is by enticing people to click on links, which can lead to fake websites, in the hope that this information will be entered.
These scams can be in the form of a text, an email or phone call. There are also reports of fake ‘Something for You’ cards, which Royal Mail leave when a delivery is attempted, but no-one is home.
Royal Mail has a helpful page on its website of examples of delivery scams, including text messages and emails people have received.
You can check if you think something you’ve seen online, or in a text or email you’ve received, might be a scam, using an online tool on the Citizens Advice website.
