- 1830. Indian Removal Act: President Andrew Jackson called for the removal of Native tribes east of the Mississippi to the West and thousands of Indians were forced to move west. - 1890: The Wounded Knee Massacre: one of the last battle between the Whites and the Native Americans, on the Lakota Pine Ridge reservation. More than 3OO men, women, and children were killed by the US Cavalry after a rifle was accidentally discharged.
- 1924: Indians Citizenship Act
- 1960s: the "Red Power Movement" which, alike the Civil Rights Movement, was the struggle for equality many Native Americans fought in the sixties.
