1968屆 Warren CW Yau
Dear Tsang Mun Chiu
(曾滿超) and Pong Shuet Ling (龐雪玲),
Please don't feel surprised when you are reading this email. I am Yau Chi Wo writing from London, your primary school classmate almost half century ago. You've all settled in the U.S. for many years. May I ask if there is any moments in which you think about your childhood daily lives in Lei Cheng Uk Primary School? Have any images of your teachers and classmates ever pop into your mind? Do you want to see or hear from them?
I am now retired in England and moved to here from HK almost 6 years ago. Two weeks ago over the internet Tam Lap Sam (譚立三) and I got contact again. He is now living in L.A. and working as a statistician in the Navy, California. We haven't seen each other and lost contact for over 40 years. You can imagine how exciting it is to hear from a classmate again after separating for such a long time. After exchange each other's thoughts, we would like to see if there is any possibility that you may join the email network with Tam and I.
Basically in the email network we would like to share each other's stories and pictures for the past 40 years. And ultimately we may have a reunion in the U.S., UK, HK or China. In the beginning there may be only few of us. We hope that in the long run, more classmates will join. As far as I know,Tam Lap Sam, Tsang Mun Chiu and Pong Suet Ling are living in North America. Probably other classmates like Tse Ye Shang (謝惹湘), Mak Heung Wah (麥香華) and Chan Fung Chun (陳鳳珍) are also living in the U.S. Only I am now in U.K. If you know and have contacts with them, you may forward this email to them.
To refresh your memory, may I show you the attached two old pictures of Lei Cheng Uk Primary School? When I first saw them not long ago in the internet, I almost jump back into the good old days.
And I can show you the photos of two teachers of ours: Yuen Ka Yee (袁家儀老師) the English teacher and Tsang Wan Kit (曾宏傑老師) the Discipline master. The link was created by my younger brother who is also a graduate of our school. He and his classmates had a reunion last year in HK. In the photos can you identify who is Miss Yuen and who is Mr Tsang?

As I told Tam Lap Sam before, two very sad news about our two classmates:
Do you still remember So Yuet Mei (蘇月薇) ? She worked as a nurse after her graduation from Secondary school. She passed away in the year 1995. I knew the news because her nursing school classmate, also my secondary school classmate, brought me to visit her in Shatin City One at her final state of life. She suffered from cancer. I feel particular sorry as in the old days we came across and had some chats each other in the Tai Pai Dang in Lei Cheng UK to have porridege for the breakfast.
Another one is Yuen Yuk Man (袁育民). Here are the links showing his students and colleagues paid the final tribute to him in the year 2008.

We are lucky that we are still healthy and alive. As the time goes by, I feel a much stronger desire to have a chance to see and to hear from my classmates again. Our childhood memory is fading away and we are running to the second half of our lives. I hope you can support Tam and my ideas to get in touch with each other.
Best wishes and a prosperous new year .

Dear Yau Chi Wo,
Of course I remember you and Tam Lap Sam. How nice it is to hear from you!
Funny that you mentioned Li Cheng Uk Primary School. I took my daughter there a month ago to show her things of my childhood. About three years ago, Yuen Yuk Man took me there after we had lunch with Tsang Mun Chui.
Yuen was quite sick at the time but his spirits were high. At lunch he asked Mun and I to join him to recall all the names of our classmates on some old pictures he had. I could feel his excitement when we later arrived at the gate of Li Cheng Uk school. Yuen was always the perfect prefect who enjoyed taking care of other people. I wish I was able to spend more time with him before he left this world. I didn’t know the sad news about So Yuet Mei. In my mind she was the most gentle girl. I’m sorry to know that she passed away at such a young age.
As you may know, I have been teaching at Penn State University in Pennsylvania, USA. I returned to Hong Kong one and a half months ago to take up a Visiting position at the Faculty of Education at CUHK. I’ll be here as long as my dean at Penn State gives me a leave of absence. My daughter is now 1st year in college away from home. My parents are in HK and are getting old, so it’s about time to be back to see them more often. In fact, I taught for a couple of years at CUHK. It’s hard to believe that I have left for 23 years.
Why do you choose London to retire? Do you have your family with you? I am glad to be in your network. However, my job demands a great deal of my time. If don’t respond, please know that I’m still there.
I’m copying this message to Woo Wai Ching. She found my email just a couple of months ago. I’m sure she would like to be connected to this network as well.
Happy Year of the Rabbit!
Pong Suet Ling
