A Note to Our Company
Casting a show like Prince of Egypt is about building an ensemble of people to support each other and tell an important story; beyond the story of two brothers – it’s how a ripple in the water can change the course of nations! Every role in this story exists because it is needed. And every one of you is essential to the telling of it. This production only works if we commit fully to the idea that each voice, each body, and each story onstage (and off with kindness and camaraderie together with our technicians) matters.
Over the course of this year, we’ve talked often about empathy, accountability, resiliency, forgiveness, and learning to truly see one another — not just as we are in this moment, but for who we are becoming. Those ideas live at the heart of this show. They also live in how we rehearse, how we treat each other, and how we welcome new members into our community.
As we head into the break, we hope you take time to rest, celebrate, and reconnect with the people and things that refill you. Come back ready to move, to dance, to work hard, and to dive deeply into these characters. But please, come back also ready to support one another, lift one another, and choose generosity every day in class, rehearsal and tech days.
This ensemble is something special. We see magic with this cast and this story. We are so excited to watch you continue to grow. Together, we can do hard things — and we’re excited to do this one with you. “There can be miracles, when you believe!”
Happy holidays. We can’t wait to begin.
