Thank you to every student who auditioned for next year’s Musical Theatre class. We sincerely appreciate the time, courage, preparation, and heart that you brought into the audition process. Auditioning takes vulnerability, and we recognize the work that many of you put in long before you stepped into the room.
Selection for this class was especially difficult because of the amount of talent and potential we saw. Placement decisions are never a measure of worth, popularity, or future ability; they reflect where students currently fit within the specific needs of this program and the growth we believe is needed at this time.
To those who were selected: congratulations! We are excited for the work ahead and for the opportunity to build something extraordinary together as we prepare next year’s two musicals. This class comes with high expectations, strong commitment, and the responsibility to contribute to a culture of excellence, humility, and kindness.
To those who were not selected this year: please do not let this be the end of your journey. Growth in theatre often happens between opportunities, not just inside them. One of the best ways to continue developing and to help us better know your work ethic, consistency, and growth is through continued participation in related classes:
• Drama 3/Concurrent Enrollment (B6) or Stage Craft (B5) where you can be involved with the musicals by helping us build the sets, costumes, props, etc. for the shows!
• Dance 1 and/or Dance 2 (A2)
• Choir opportunities:
• Varsity Concert Choir (B6) - all voice types, 11th & 12th grade only
• Clarity Treble Choir (A3) - higher voices
• Resonance Tenor/Bass Choir (B5) - lower voices
These classes help strengthen the exact skills we look for: discipline, collaboration, musicality, movement, character work, and daily commitment. And we look forward to seeing you audition again in the future!
Most importantly, we ask every student, whether selected or not, to begin now in helping protect the kind of culture we value here: one of kindness, respect, maturity, and support for one another. Celebrate others sincerely. Handle disappointment with grace. Speak well of each other. The kind of artist you are becoming matters just as much as the talent you bring.
We are grateful for each of you and excited about the work ahead.
