Riley Brothers Early Films

Whilst researching the connections between Appleton, Percy Lund and the Riley Brothers a list of very early films being shown by the Riley Brothers films was discovered, for those interested in this a list is shown here. Further details can be found in the Willie Riley collection at the J B Priestley Library, Bradford.

During three evenings of entertainment at the Manningham Wesleyan Bazaar, March 1901 the following films were shown.

Queen Victoria's last visit to Yorkshire. Queen Victoria's funeral, 1. The procession at Cowes, a magnificent photograph. 2 - Crossing the Solent. 3 - Leaving Victoria Station, London Fine Photographs of King Edward VII and the German Emperor. 4 - Passing the Marble Arch. 5 - The procession entering Windsor Park. 6 - Entering St George's Chapel. The King and Queen leaving Chelsea Hospital etc.

The thirsty tramp and the milk. Sharp work by the Kansas fire brigade. Marvellous illustrations - Call to Arms on a Man of War - Boys sliding - On the Thames at Chertsey. - A lively pillow fight. - Swimming and Diving : marvellous performances etc.
