“Protestant Alliance Bazaar – For some months past a number of self-sacrificing ladies have been employing their dainty fingers in preparing a variety of articles for sale at the forthcoming Protestant Alliance Bazaar, and next week the result of their quit, but diligent “labour of love” will be exhibited and sold. An interesting feature of the Bazaar will be the portraits offered for sale of the various Wesleyan and other ministers in the town, photographed in the well known gallery and with the best skill of Messrs. Appleton and Co. We have been favoured with the sight of these portraits, and can assure the admirers and disciples of the gentlemen whose likenesses are offered, that they may possess themselves of pictures which will grace any album, however costly.”

“Photography – We have placed before us half-a-dozen exquisite specimens – perhaps the best we have ever seen f the photographic art, by Messrs. Appleton & Co of North Parade. They consist of pictures of buildings erected from designs of Mr. E. Arton, in Peel Place, the registrar’s house and the chapels at the Borough Cemetery, &c. The picture of the warehouse ought to be reproduced in the Builder. It is one if the many beautiful buildings in this town, which we think worthy of that distinction.”

“The Mayor of Bradford – An excellent lithographic portrait of Mr Mark Dawson has just been published by Mr G Black, of Regent Street, London. It is from a photograph by Messrs. Appleton & Co, of Bradford. The likeness is an admirable one and the work does great credit to the artists concerned in it.”
