SAS
Supercritical Antisolvent (SAS) Precipitation
In the SAS process a liquid solution of the target compound is put in contact with the supercritical fluid. As a result, the liquid becomes saturated with the supercritical fluids, leading to the precipitation of the target compounds, characterizing the antisolvent effect of the supercritical fluid. A polymer can act as coating agent in this process, promoting the formation of particles of the targer compound, encapsulated or distributed in the polymer.
