Lao Students Association in Japan-Kyushu Knowledge Exchange Forum

Organized by the Lao People Revolutionary Youth Unit in Kyushu Region

Amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic, the arrangement or gathering of many participants for any activity is not allowed to conduct as usual. Thus, the Lao People Revolutionary Youth Unit (LPRYU) under the Lao Students Association in Japan – Kyushu Region (LSAJ-Kyushu) virtually organized a LSAJ-Kyushu Knowledge Exchange Forum via Zoom on 20 June 2021, at 15:00 (local time in Japan), consisting of 26 participants. In this webinar, there were three topics as follows:

1. "The outbreak of HIV and AIDS Diseases in Laos" presented by Ms. Vilaysone Rajpho, a first-year master's student, Nagasaki University. This presentation gave information on HIV and AIDS infected persons. The diseases affect Human Resource Development in Laos and around the world. The presenter had shown some short videos and some online sources of additional information. She also pointed to the importance of an HIV testing campaign at the village level, especially encourage the MSM (Men who have sex with men) people and other risk groups to get an HIV test.

2. "Behaviors of Smallholder Pig Production in Laos," presented by Mr. Bounhom Chanthaxay, a second-year master's student, Kyushu University (presented in English). The primary purpose of this presentation was to seek comments and recommendations to improve the research paper which will be presented at an international academic conference. This topic delivered helpful information about pig raising regarding commerce, household consumption, and food security in Laos. In addition, the participants provided some constructive comments, suggestions, research techniques, and experiences for the presenter.

3. "Experience sharing on Entry-Exit for Laos and Japan during the COVID-19 pandemic" presented by Ms. Latdavanh Vorlasane, a second-year master's student, Nagasaki University. This presentation covered essential documents and preparations related to traveling regulation. She also shared her experiences through the trip to Laos and re-enter Japan, including 14 days quarantine and the COVID-19 test procedure.

The exchanges on the topics mentioned above were highly significant and valuable. Attendees paid close attention to the presentations, discussed, came up with comments and conversations, down to questions and answers until 17:30. Moreover, the LSAJ-Kyushu Knowledge Exchange Forum is arranged by the LSAJ-Kyushu every month and takes turns within the three mass units.
