A peasant who managed to win the Tsuruchi archery contest, earning his place in the Wasp Clan. A botched investigation into a suspected affair led to Yukio killing the wrong man - who turned out to be a maho-tsukai, saving him some face at least. A committed follower of the Code of the Wasp, rather than the Code of Bushido. Sent here to represent the Phoenix clan (no-one really understands why they sent a Wasp rather than one of their own).
Yukio served with the Wolf for many years, being instrumental in their hosting of the Imperial Winter court and earning the clan great honour with his archery skills. At one contest, he even beat the legendary Tsuruchi himself, although he always considered the Wasp daimyo to be the greatest archer in the Empire.
However in Spring 1140 Yukio's past was brought to light. Soshi Murai Rei had discovered his secret and before she could reveal it and dishonour the clan Yukio was cast out into exile. Before he left, however, he promised Tomochi that should the city come under attack, he would return and stand on the walls with no expectation of reward or acknowledgement.
Yukio was first married to Okami Hochiko, formerly of the Scorpion, who also became the clan magistrate. This marriage ended in 1132 when it was revealed that Hochiko had been stealing funds for her own purposes. She fled the city before due punishment could be put upon her. The marriage produced several children:

Okami Ryo (played by Chris as one of The Firstborn), born 1126, a male courtier trained in the Doji school & his twin Okami Akira, a male bushi trained in the Tsuruchi archer school
Okami Ikeda, a female samurai promised to be wed to a member of the merchant caste, born 1127. Ikeda suffered from illness as a child.
Okami Unknown, born 1128, a male samurai promised to marry Natsuki of the Boar Clan, training in the Wolf Bushi school.
The twins Okami Unknown, born 1129, a female samurai and Okami Unknown, a male samurai.
From his second marriage to Okami Ishikawa (born 1097) of the Kitsuki, there were no further children. However, Ishikawa brought two children to the marriage. A boy, born 1119 and a girl, born 1122. Both are training with the Dragon in the Kitsuki school.
