Season One - Beginnings
This season covered 1121 to 1130, and ended with the Winter Court of 1130.
Politics
During this time, the Wolf established a strong alliance with the Iuchi, but made a mixed relationship with the Soshi. One the one hand, they were allied with both House Murai and House Yoriko, but the alliance with House Murai ended when the Wolf went to war versus that House, and led to the abduction of their lord's heir by his wife (now ex-wife!). The alliance with House Yoriko is tenuous after Okami Takumi defeated Soshi Yoriko Takehide in a duel which proved that Takehide had murdered and betrayed his lord. At the Winter Court of 1130, the Wolf joined the Lion-Unicorn alliance, agreeing to let both clans move armies through the lands. In return, the Lion and Unicorn agreed to respect the independence of Kanazawa and to protect it from harm. The Wolf helped to re-introduce the lost Boar Clan to the Empire, and have an agreement to sign an alliance. The clan is also on good terms with the Dragonfly, after offering sanctuary to the sensei of their school during the Lion-Dragon war.
City Events
A cult of maho tsukai was uncovered within the city, and a portal to Jigoku in the castle closed, but not before a gaki could enter the portal. The Wolf brought peace to Kanazawa for a decade, and the city has grown and prospered in this time. While still not the economic powerhouse it once was, the lands of the Wolf are quietly prosperous and the people happy.
Clan Events
The Wolf established a bushi school, based on the Hare school. By the end of the decade, a handful of samurai were in training and the first technique reasonably well established. The ranks of the Wolf have grown, with recruits largely drawn from the descendents of the Hare and ronin who have proved themselves worthy. Many of the ronin mercenaries hired by the Wolf have been promised a place for thier children in the clan if they perform their duties with honour. Apart from Tomochi, the other notables in the Wolf are all married and have many children. Tomochi's first marriage to Soshi Murai Honami ended when she vanished with their infant son, and he is now promised to a young Seppun courtier. As of 1130, Tomochi had not adopted an heir.
Season Two - Thunder Clouds on the Horizon
This season covered 1131 to 1144.
It began with half a decade of quiet, but a terrible famine began in 1138. In 1140 Soshi Murai Rei slew Okami Tomochi and razed Kanazawa. The famine and subsequent plague blighted the Emerald Empire until 1142, and led to the formation of the rebellious People's Legion in Dragon lands. In 1143, the Wolf recovered the legendary scrolls of the Hundred Stances dojo. The People's Legion were not defeated until 1144, when the Lion invaded the Dragon lands to do so. The Lion invasion and seizure of Dragon lands precipipated a chain of events which lead to the murder of Akodo Masahisa and Hantei the 39th during the Imperial Winter Court of 1144. The season ended with the Empire on the verge of collapse.
Season Three - An Empire United Must Divide...
This season covered 1144 to 1154.
This season was marked by a great civil war, which split the Empire into two warring factions. A new Great Clan was created, and one Minor Clan destroyed (the Stag and Wasp, respectively), and countless samurai and peasents died in the fiercest wars the Empire has seen in an age. The Wolf worked tirelessly to hide and support the young Hantei Chihiro - they recovered the lost Imperial Sword and Seal for her. The season ended as Chihiro assumed the throne of the Western Empire (the Unicorn, Dragon and Scorpion), taking the regnal name Hantei Yugozohime. She vowed to reunite the shattered empire.
Season Four - ....An Empire Divided Must Unite
This season covered 1154 to 1162.
The civil war continued, and the effects were more clearly felt. The three-way division of Rokugan sent echoes rippling through the realms of existence, and many of these years were marked by spiritual incursions into Ningen-do. The Wolf were appointed to high office in the (Western) Empire, and served with honour and distinction. In 1155, the Phoenix negotiated a ceasefire between the Empires. During these negotiations (later referred to as the Great Court), the Crane Emperor was revealed to be a shapeshifter, and the Crane sworn fealty to the Empress Yugozohime. Both Yugozohime and her remaining brother continued in charge of the separated empires. The peace lasted until 1162, when the forces of Jigoku struck the Empire once more. The Kaiu Wall was breached for the first time, and the Empress rode south to help defend the realm. In the north, an army of undead was raised from those slain by the famine, plague and wars of the previous decades and struck towards Kanazawa. The Wolf were successful in defending their home, and survived to watch Rokugan re-unite.
