Departmental Activities

Since fall 2010 I have assisted with organizing and running the Mathematic Department’s graduate teaching orientation. This is a 4 day long workshop that orients new GTAs to the expectations and skills required for a math TA. Topics include such things as lesson planning, group-work facilitating, quiz writing, etc. My role has primarily been as a facilitator for break-out sessions and as a speaker on certain topics, most notably group-work (since 2008 as a speaker).

For two years I served on the Applied Mathematics, Statistics, and Scientific Computing Student Council which organizes a bi-weekly student seminar, student-facility social events, the department graduation conference and the related poster, presentation and paper competition.
