Duck Walk
Forearm Conditioning - Stand facing partner: 1). Throw right outside/inward down block striking the forearm's near the wrist area. 2). Throw right inside/outward block striking to same area of the forearms. Repeat with the left arm. 1/30/16.
Squat Kicks - Squat then at the top throw a front kick with the right leg, squat then at the top throw a front kick with the left leg.
Squat Kicks - Squat then at the top, throw a left side kick - repeat for a total of 3 kicks. Then switch and perform 3 kicks on the right.
Triple Kick - From a fighting stance with the back leg throw a front kick, side kick, and back kick without letting the leg touch the ground.
From a natural stance throw a side stomp kick to the right with the right leg, then a side stomp kick to the left with the left leg. Repeat.
From a natural stance: Upper block with left while stepping back with right leg, upper block right, step back with left leg, upper block Left, step back right leg, then throw right strike with right to body. Return to natural stance: upper block with left while stepping forward with left leg, upper block right step forward with right leg, upper block left step forward with left leg then throw right strike to body.
Crescent kick followed by a side kick with the same leg and without putting the leg on the ground.
Left fighting - Mae-Geri, Mae-Geri, Yoko-Geri. - From left fighting, throw a right Mae-Geri, then Left Mae-Geri, followed by a right Yoko-Geri. Left Gae-dan Uke (block low) - reverse direction. Hands to the ready. Repeat starting with Right fighting stance.
Left fighting - Front Stomp kick off left leg followed by right Mawashi-Geri to attackers leg. Repeat starting with Right fighting stance.
Left fighting - Front Stomp kick off left leg followed by Mae-Geri from right leg to attacker's mid-section, then Mawashi-Geri with left leg to attackers ribs. Repeat starting with Right fighting stance.
Left fighting - Front Yoko-Geri off front left leg to attacker's mid-section, then right Shotei-Tsuki (Palm-Heel) to head, followed by right Hiza-ate (knee strike) to body. Switch to Right fighting and repeat. 10-17-2015.
Left fighting - Front Left Kin-Geri to groin followed by Mae-Geri from right leg to attacker's mid-section or groin, then Left Hiza-ate (knee strike) to body.
Left fighting - Shift left while Mawashi-Geri to attacker's inside left thigh, then right Hiza-ate (knee strike) to attacker's ribs, and follow-up with left & right combination Hiji-ate (elbow strike) to head.
Left fighting - Shift right while Mawashi-Geri off left leg to attacker's inside left thigh, then right Mawashi-Geri to attacker's left back thigh follow-up with Hiza-ate (knee strike) using left knee to the body. Repeat starting with Right fighting stance.
Left fighting - Thrust Chudan-zuki (middle punch) with right arm advancing a full stance. You should finish at a right-fight stance with right arm extended. Repeat starting in Right fighting. The repeat series using Jodan-zuki (upper punch).
Left fighting - Chudan-zuki (middle punch) with right, right Uraken (back-fist) to head, and right upper-cut to body. Switch to right fighting and repeat. Partner uses focus mitts. 10-17-2015.
Left fighting - Left shuffle step forward slightly to the left then Yoko-Geri to attacker's mid-section. Repeat with right. A more advanced version - After Left Yoko-Geri follow-up with a spin back kick with your right leg.
Left fighting - Left shuffle step forward then Mae-Geri to subject's knee area with front leg (your left). Repeat with right. Additional drill replace Mae-Geri with Mawashi-Geri to the knee area. This move will close the gap between you and the subject.
Left fighting - Right Mae-Geri to mid-section and shuffle step, then left Mae-Geri again to the mid-section. Repeat with Right fighting stance. 10/10/2015.
Left fighting - Attacker throws right cross - Shift back with outside left arm block, follow-up with left upper-cut to head. Switch to Right fighting and repeat. 1/16/2016.
Left fighting - Attacker throws right cross - Shift back to the right with inside out left forearm block, follow-up with right palm-heel to head. Switch to Right Fighting and repeat. For follow-up strike, substitute the right ridge hand strike to head instead of the palm-heel and repeat. 1/16/2016.
Left fighting - Attacker throws right cross - use two knife hand (inside out) on incoming right cross. Counter with a right palm heel to face and right knee shot to groin. For throw, rotate your body left, while holding on to attacker's right wrist, grasp head\neck with your right hand, and insert your right leg (calf forward) to the inside left leg. Pull with your left arm while pushing attacker's head to the left. Alternate throw - After knee shot (keep your left hand on attacker's wrist and right hand near attacker's head/neck) - step behind attackers right leg with your right leg. Thrust your hip into subject and pull with you left hand and push head/neck with your right hand. Alternate throw - After knee shot, hook your right foot/leg behind attacker's left leg - immediately push subject backwards with your arm while quickly retracting your right leg backwards. This should cause the subject to fall backwards. 4/2/2016.
Left fighting - Attacker throws right cross - Shift forward left while using left knife-hand (shuto-uke) - outside inward block on the incoming right cross. At end of block, roll left hand down forcing attacker's right cross down about chest high. Counter with a right ridge-hand to attacker's temple or eye area. Follow with a right then left Hiza-geri (knee strike) to mid-section. 4/30/2016.
Left fighting - Attacker kicks at your mid-section with a Mae-geri. Shift left and block with outside/in Gaedan-uke followed by a cloth-line forearm strike to attacker's neck. If attacker's hand are up, use a palm heel strike instead. One may follow-up with a left hook to the head. 4/02/2016.
Left fighting - Attacker throws left & right combination - block incoming left with a right knife-hand, block incoming right with a left knife-hand, quickly follow-up with a right Hiza-ate (knee strike to the mid-section by grasping the shoulder or head. Important that the left knife-hand keep upward pressure on the attacker's right arm to open up spot for the knee strike. 1/30/2016.
From Wide-open leg stance and arms shoulder high - Shift(step) left with knife hand block a mid-section threat, then Mae-Geri with right leg to attacker's mid-section. Repeat with right - Shift right.
From Wide-open leg stance - Knife hand block a threat coming at your head from the left, shift(step) right then Yoko-Geri with left leg. Repeat with threat from right.
Neutral Stance - Attacker using both hands grasp your shirt collar area. At the moment attacker begins to strike with a right punch, simultaneously, pin the attacker's right hand against your chest, perform and eye-sweep with your right hand, while stepping back with your left leg. This withdrawal of your left leg and twist of your body should pull the attacker forward to the left. Using your left, perform a shuto-zuki (knife hand) strike to attacker's neck followed by a right then left Hiza-Ate (knee strike) to attacker's body. 1/9/2016.
Neutral Stance - Attacker using left hand grasp your shirt collar area. Attacker is preparing to strike with right hand. At the moment attacker begins to strike with a right punch, simultaneously, pin the attacker's left hand against your chest while striking with a left palm heel to the attacker's head. One will need to rotate 45 degrees to the right and step back at a 45 degree angle with your right leg. The pinning of the left arm and rotating will basically cause a collision of attacker jaw with your rising left palm heel. Next, with your left leg, step behind attacker's left leg with a left leg pulling motion and proceed to a judo throw. As an alternative to the throw, go for a double hand trap. While your right hand is pinning the attacker's left, maneuver your right hand so that your thumb in at the back of the attacker's left hand. Then add your left hand to the hold for more twisting force for a submission hold. 2/20/2016.
Sen - Technique Drill: Left fighting stance, 1). Attacker throws right punch to your face. 2). Your counter is to side shift to the right while throwing a left punch to solar-plex area of attacker - (you are slipping your attacker's punch, hopefully your side-step moves your head below the on-coming punch from the attacker). 3). Follow-up with Mawashi geri to the attacker's closest leg with your right leg. 4). Then Mawashi geri to the body with your left leg.
Sen - Technique Drill: Left fighting stance, 1). Attacker throws right punch to your face. 2). Your counter is to move forward using your left knife hand block to stop the right punch with a simultaneous either palm heel to face or sword-peak shot to the throat. Sen - Technique Drill: Left fighting stance, 1) Attacker throws right punch to your face. 2). Your counter is a left knife hand block (outside to the left) to his right punch, simultaneously, stepping back (left foot sides back), and simultaneously throwing a right upper cut to attacker's jaw. 3). Your right leg is already between legs and your left hand is on attacker's right arm - slip your right leg further inside attacker's legs while grabbing his shoulder or hooking the neck for a judo type throw (to the left), pulling with left arm and pushing with right arm.
Sen - Technique Drill: Left fighting stance, 1) Attacker throws right punch to your face. 2). Your counter is to shuffle forward quickly using a right hand gyaku strike to attackers eyes/nose area. Your left hand will be there to defect the right punch (just-in-case), but objective is to close the distance to avoid the attacker's right hand. 3). Follow-up with a left palm-heel strike and a right sword-peek strike to the throat.
Go no Sen - Defense with Counter - Technique Drill: Left fighting stance, 1) Attacker throws right punch to your face. 2). Your defense is to knife hand block his right punch with your left, simultaneously, stepping back at 45 degrees while preparing for a Mawashi-geri to attacker's left knee with your left leg. 3). Follow-up with a right punch (chudan-zuki) to attacker's body, then left judon-zuki, and right elbow to the head.
Go no Sen - Left fighting stance. 1) Attacker throws left punch to your face. 2) Your defense is the slicing upward forearm block with your right arm catching the inside of attacker's arm or wrist. 3) Counter with back fist strike to attacker's head. Repeat with attacker's right punch to your face.
Go no Sen - Left fighting stance - Attacker throws a Mae-Geri to your mid-section, your response is to Chudan uchi-uke (middle inner block) the incoming foot with your left forearm. This exposes the attacker's side and back to you. Your counter is a right Chudan-zuki to the mid-section followed by a left Jodan-zuki to the head. Your left hand will be in the near the attacker shoulder, grasp it pulling while simultaneously kick/sweep the attacker's right leg.
Go no Sen - Traditional two stand face to face neutral stance. Attacker starts with Gaedan-Uke then Judon-zuki to receivers head. Defender steps back with right leg and performs a left hand bent-wrist block to attackers Judon-zuki. Then, proceeds with right Ridge hand to temple area, followed by left upper cut and right palm heel strike. 7/18/2015
Ippon Kumite - Traditional, two stand face to face neutral stance. Attacker starts with Jodon-zuki to receiver's head. Receiver stands ready with both arm waist level. Attacker throws a right Judon-zuki to head, receiver blocks with a a left Jodon-uke. Attacker throws a left Jodon-zuke to head, receiver blocks with a right Judon-uke. Receiver then throws a left Chudan-zuki to the chest of the attacker. 2/20/16
Ippon Kumite - Two participants stand facing each other approx. 3' apart, arm to the side - Bow. There are 3 steps in this drill. 1). Person A steps back into left Gaedan-Uke. 2). Person A performs Jodan-zuki to Person B's head's. Person B steps @ 45 degree forward while left shuto-uke (knife hand) block the Jodan-zuki. 3). Person B performs Hiji-ate (elbow strike) with right arm to Person A's body. Right hand then hooks the left arm of Person A, while using to the left arm to leverage Person A's neck, then execute a left leg sweep to Person A's left leg. Note: Person B should push with the left arm while performing the left leg sweep simultaneously. Follow-up with a right strike to Person A's head has fallen to the ground.
Ippon Kumite - Two participants stand facing each other approx. 3' apart, arm to the side - Bow. There are 3 steps in this drill. 1). Person A steps back into left Gaedan-uke. 2). Person A performs Jodan-zuki to Person B's head's. Person B steps @ 45 degree forward while left shuto-uke (knife hand) block the Jodan-zuki, simulatenously punch the ribs of Person A. 3). Person B uses right to continue the block of the left arm of person A, then performs an upper-cut with left again to Person A's ribs.
Sonbon Kumite - Neutral stance. 1. Step back into a left forward stance with left knife hand (Shuto-Uke) block. 2. Step back into a right forward stance with right knife hand block. 3. Step back into a left forward stance with left knife hand block. 4. Counter strike with a right ridge hand strike, right Uraken-uchi (back fist) strike, and left Chudan-zuki (middle) strike to the body followed by a right Mae-geri kick to the body. Next, do the same exercise - starting with the right. 3/5/2016.
Preemptive Strike - Left fighting stance and in imminent danger - use a left palm heel or finger eye sweep to move to the subject head up. Follow with a simultaneous sword-peak strike to the throat. 1/23/2016

Knife Drills:
Left fighting stance - Attacker lunges with knife to your body with his right hand. Defense - Left Cat Stance with simultaneous left knife-hand inside out block and right-hand curled fingers eye strike, follow-up with Kin-Geri groin strike off left leg.
Left fighting stance - Attacker lunges with knife to your body with his right hand. Defense - simultaneous left knife-hand inside out block and right-hand curled fingers eye strike, follow-up with right Hiza-Ate (knee strike) to attacker's body. Note: your left hand-arm stays in constant contact with attacker's right by hooking your left hand under attacker's elbow area. After the eye strike, your right hand grasp attacker's shoulder or neck for the knee strike. With your left hand still holding the knife arm, your right can get in position for a wrist lock to remove the knife threat.
Left fighting stance - Attacker lunges with knife to your body with his right hand. Defense - Left knife hand inside out block to the wrist with simultaneous right ridge hand strike to the tendon area above the wrist ( a sweeping motion). Then trap and grasp the attacker's arm moving it outward then up for a wrist hold. Follow-up with a Hiza-Ate (knee strike) to attacker's body. 1/23/2016
Left fighting stance - Attacker lunges with knife to your body with his right hand. Defense - Use the crossing wrist block of the incoming knife. If you choose your left arm for 1st contact to attacker's wrist area, grasp attacker's hand with your right hand's thumb on the back of the attacker's hand. Rotate to the left and upwards, applying forward pressure as well as left torsional outward pressure. Follow-up with knee strike to the groin or body.
If you choose your right arm for 1st contact to attacker's wrist area, grasp attacker's wrist with your left hand's thumb on the back of the attacker's hand. Rotate to right and upwards, applying forward pressure on the wrist. Follow-up with knee strike to the groin or body. 1/23/2016

Hand Conditioning - There are various methods to condition four main parts of the hand used in strikes, such as the palm, edge of palm, the ridge (area of 1st finger and the 1st two knuckles). Start with the Seizan position as shown in the 1st photo above. Note, this is a conditioning exercise to build tolerance, use caution. 4/23/2016
Exercise 1 - Shuto-uchi - Left hand out in front positioned near mid-section high, palm up - raise your right arm, elbow near ear and strike the palm of your left hand 10 times with the edge of right palm (Shuto-uchi - knife hand strike). Then switch to the right hand out and strike 10 times.
Exercise 2 - Ridge-hand - Left hand out in front, palm sideways facing right - right arm in the ready position, fist against chest. Strike the left palm with the right ridge-hand 10 times. Then switch to right hand out and repeat 10 times. Remember to keep fingers tightly squeezed together for an effective strike.
Exercise 3 - Shotei-ate - Both hands are held at chest level on each side of the body and brought together in the middle while pulling fingers back. The perform this palm heel (Shotei-ate) strike 10 times.
Exercise 4 - Zuki - Strike the Makiwara board 10 times with 1st two knuckles with left hand and switch position to strike with the right hand. Please see photo below:
