Frontal Attacks
Defensive combined with Offensive simultaneous - Sen No Sen
Attacker approaches left stance, punches with left - You are in the ready left stance: (Perform this simultaneous) Angle to your right, blocking the attacker's left punch with your right, your left punch strikes the body of attacker. Your next move can be to simultaneously grab the attacker's left that is near your head with your left hand while palm healing the attacker's head with your right hand. With right arm extended, hook the neck area and with sweep the attacker's left leg with your right leg torquing your right arm opposite your right sweep. If done correctly your attacker should fall to your right allowing you to escape. (please see Video link)
7-20-2019 - Attacker approaches left stance - You are in the ready left stance: As the attacker approaches, shift forward left, throw right inside-out crescent kick to attacker's leading knee, follow with a left knee strike, and with a right elbow strike.
7-27-2019 - Attacker approaches left stance, throws a right haymaker: Your are in a left ready stance: As the attacker approaches, execute Back-Hand strike.
Attacker in left stance, punches with right - You are in left stance: (Perform this simultaneous) Block with Left knife hand block and palm-heel with your right. Grab attacker's shoulder and strike with your right knee. Use your left elbow to strike head, followed with a right forearm strike to head. (Please see Video link below):
Defensive and Offensive simultaneous - Sen Technique:
Attacker in left stance, punches with Left - You are in left stance: (Perform this simultaneous) Step forward right slipping under the left punch coming in, while throwing your left to the body. Follow-up with a right mawashi geri to the body and left mawashi to the body.
Sen Technique - Part 2: Attacker in left stance, punches with Right - Attacker is in a left stance and throws a right punch to your head. You are in left stance: (Perform this simultaneous). 1. Block right punch coming in with your left knife hand, (hooking the attackers right hand with your left hand), palm heel to the face (left arm is a rolling motion). 2. Follow-up with a right elbow strike (hiji-ate) to the head. 3. Follow-up with your right knee strike (hiza-geri) to the body.

Frontal Attack - Right Cross Defense 5-12-2018
Ground Defense - You've fallen and can't get-up...
If you end-up on the ground, you can still be effective with the posture described below.
More details on the configuration of the foot that is used to dig-in to the ground. Curl your toes so that you can you maneuver into a position to land a heel or side kick to the attacker's groin or mid-section.
Defensive with Counter Attack - Go No Sen
Defensive Takedown
Video Clip 2 minutes: Attacker in left front stance, throws a kick with his back leg. Defender blocks with left forearm and traps attacker's leg.
Frontal Attack
Video Clip 1.5 minutes: Attacker tries to grab defender with both hands. Defender throws up a double block.
Roll Back Defense from Frontal Attack
Video Clip 1 minute. Man peacefully reading is shoved down by attacker.
Double Hand Block
Video Clip. Two standing left to left. Attacker throws a left/right jab combination. The double hand block can defend against a straight or hook type punch with two arms to cover a wide area.
Arm Bar
Video Clip. Attacker throws a right punch exposing the arm for entrapment. Counter measures are: 1. Left Knife-hand block, 2. Rolling & sliding the blocking hand to trap the arm/elbow and Right Palm-heel to the face and grasping attacker's shoulder to set for - 4. Grabbing the attacker hand for the arm bar.
Cat Stance Knife Defense
Video Clip. Attacker lunges to the body with a (rubber knife). Counter measures are: 1. Backup into a Cat Stance simultaneously using a inside-out left hooked-hand block to the attacker's forearm with a right hand finger strike to the eyes. 2. Grab attacker's shoulder to set-up for a Knee strike to the body. 3. Either take the weapon away or grasp the wrist and continue forward for a arm bar.
Crescent Kick with Spinning Side Kick 12-04-2015
Video Clip. Attacker lunges to the body with a (rubber knife). Counter measure are: 1. Crescent kick to block knife 2. Spinning side kick (Yoko-Geri) to the attackers mid-section. An attacker can close a distance of 20 ft. in approximately 3 seconds.
Block Punch with Knee Counter Defense
Video Clip. Attacker punches with right. Defense is to block in-coming right with left knife-hand, while stepping out to the left. The block continues down and out. Grasp attacker's shoulder with right hand to set up for a right knee strike.
Right Kick Defense
Video Clip. Attacker kick with right foot. Defense is to side-step to the left: Lead with Left foot & keep right arm ready for a trap. Pivot right advancing while grasping the attacker leg and simultaneously shooting your arm across attacker's upper body. Pivot to the left and the attacker will fall.
Right Punch - Double Hand Block
Video Clip. Attacker punches with right hand. Double hand block sweeping left to right. Your right hand hook the attacker's right wrist while your left torques down near the elbow. Counter attacks are right knee to the body (one to two times) followed by a left round-house to sweep the attacker's leg.
Right Punch - Block & Palm Strike with Leg trap
Photos Below. Attacker punches with right hand. Left arm block with simultaneous right palm strike to the body. Next, grab or push attacker's shoulder while grasping the left leg, pulling upwards. Additional attacks are groin shots and flipping attacker over with stomps to head and escaping.
An alternate technique (not in Video) would be similar up to photo 2, but changes are the left block would hook the arm around to the outside, then reverse left into an elbow shot to the head. Moving towards the outside left 1st grab attacker's right shoulder with your right hand while using your right leg to step behind attacker's right leg, thus positioning for a throw. (Sempai Dave)
Break Free From Two Handed Grab
Video Clip. Attacker grabs person with both hands. This tactic uses the twist of the hips combined with simultaneous (left arm downward chop) with (right arm strike to the arm or head area) to loosen attacker grip. The two knee strikes to the body to break free.
Back Attacks
Many counters to a back attack involve the use of one or more loosening-up tactics to aid in escape, these are:
Groin shots using a chopping motion in a backwards direction.
Stomping attackers feet with your heel.
Scraping attackers shins with the edge of your feet or use of the heel.
Reverse Heel snap - bring your heel upwards to strike attacker groin area.
Reverse Headbutt - snapping your head backwards to strike attackers nose area.
Forward bow - bowing forward, thrusting butt backwards to gain distance from attacker. This can be used with a subsequent Reverse headbutt.
Reverse Elbow - Thrusting elbow backwards to head or ribs.
Break Free From Headlock
Photos Below. Attacker places victim in headlock from behind. Immediately, use both hand to grab the inside elbow and turning your neck as to orient the windpipe to gap in the elbow bend. With two hands forcefully pull downward and in to your body. Step outwards to begin your escape. You may trap the arm as you exit. You also may have to use groin shots and/or foot stomps to loosen up your attacker.
Headlock Escape
Video Clip 30 seconds. Attacker from the back tries to put defender in a headlock (holds victim's head on his side).
Forward Roll Defense
Video Clip 30 seconds. Man shoved down from behind.
Forward Roll - David Diego - 2-25-2023
Back Attack - Bear Hug High
Video Clip 1 minute. Man is attacked from the back with a Bear hug, attempting to lock the arms. Counter measures are to stomp the foot or strike to groin, and shrug the shoulders up to break free then use elbow strike, followed by knee strike to insure escape.
Back Attack - Bear Hug Low
Video Clip 1 minute. Man is attacked from the back with a Bear hug, attempting to lock the hands or wrist. This is more difficult to break free. Counter measures are to dig your elbows into the biceps of the attacker and use elbow strikes, knee strikes, or foot stomps once your arms are free.
Back Attack - Cold Cock Defense 10/10/2015
Video Clip - Attacker grabs or taps victim on the right shoulder to deliver a right cross to the victims jaws. Counter is to immediately shrug shoulder upwards to protect the head or provide a smaller target. One may use a back-fist to groin and/or upper cut to the head.
Back Attack - Arm Lock Counter 10/10/2015
Video Clip - Attacker approaches from the back and places a victim in an arm-lock. Counters are stomping at attacker feet, using free arm to rise up and rotate into attacker to break the hold. Then deliver counter attacks such as, Palm heel and elbow strikes.
