From "Bygone Pickering 1895-1898"

(PUDC is Pickering Urban District Council, I think)

1895

June. PUDC. Mr KITCHING said there were many complaints about the Market Place crossing and of that near the Police Station, it was recommended that the surface should be chiselled but the surveyor said that the pavers were too hard for that to be done.

1896

May. PUDC. At the monthly meeting Mr KITCHING said the cow gaiters complained of the scarcity of water up Swainsea Lane and desired him to ask the council to make a new pond. The chairman remarked that this would cost about £20 and the council considered there was no necessity for the expenditure at the prestent time.
