HARRISON – Hearts of Oak continued

Patricia I really appreciate all the work you have done in retaining the valuable Hearts of Oak data for use by us frustrated HARRISON descendants.

I am attaching my branch from “Henry HARRISON who died in 1727” and hope it will be of benefit to other HARRRISON descendants who, hopefully will also be able to bring more information on this tree.

Information extra to the Hearts of Oak data is shown in red. DATES - Mar Jun Sep Dec with no date denote the quarter event was registered.

In Hearts of Oak Henry HARRISON who died 1727 and Dorothy RUDD are my 7th great grandparents.

Using the Hearts of Oak numbering their descendants down to my grandfather are:-

STORIES

Francis HARRISON 1848

According to G Aunt Hannah WOULD THUBRON.

This man was known as Frank and my mother, [Lucy Ann HARRISON], told me he was a "high flyer" and left them all and was never heard of again.

[I found Francis portraying himself as an “unmarried” Journeyman Blacksmith in a lodging house in Pocklington on the 1881 Census and his wife, Hannah, was living with Thomas SLATER in Saltburn, with whom she had more children.]

James Henry WOULD 1899

This was my beloved Grandpa Jim. Jim was badly injured at Skinningrove iron works in the early 1950’s. He had his feet and his ribs broken I believe and suffered with pneumonia and bad chests for the rest of his life. He had a well paid job before the accident, and then had to take a less well paid job afterwards. I presume he had an extended period off sick, resulting in my grandparents having to down size from a lovely 3 bed semidetached on Coach Road, Brotton, which they had from new to a 2 bed 2 up 2 down stone terrace on High St.

Shortly after they moved there my father was killed in a hit and run road accident and my grandparents took my widowed Mum and us three children in to live there too.

IF ANYONE KNOWS ANY MORE ABOUT THE ACCIDENT MY GRANDAD WAS IN AT SKINNINGROVE CAN YOU PLEASE PASS IT ON TO ME.

My contact details are su@buckplace.co.uk and I live in North Yorkshire, England.
