I grew up in a Christian home and came to Christ at an early age. As I was headed to college, I noticed three main interests in my life. As my parents were involved in Christian education and supported missionaries, I was interested in ministry. My interest in computers just kept growing from my first exposure to programming at a Jr. High computer camp. Linguistics was a strong interest, started by a library book on the history of English. I saw how those interests could be joined in the ministry of Bible translation through Wycliffe Bible Translators. After joining Wycliffe in 1993, I pursued linguistic training in Dallas. In the course of my studies, I moved away from official involvement in computer programming to linguistic field work. After training and developing my partnership team, I went to France for French study. I served for several years in Niger and then in Chad doing language survey -- traveling around the country assessing translation needs and gathering initial information about the area.
