We are Kendall and Renee Isaac, serving the cause of Bible Translation with Wycliffe Bible Translators. We have each been with Wycliffe 30 years, and nearly 25 years as a couple. We have served in several countries in Africa during this time, primarily Cameroon, but are now based in the US. We have three adult boys, Ben (23), Nate (21), and Zach (19).
For much of our early time in Cameroon, we were working with several languages in central Cameroon, primarily Lefa. Working together with Lefa speakers, Kendall was analyzing how words and sentences go together in order to improve accuracy and naturalness in translation. Later, Kendall also worked with several other languages from all over Cameroon in the same way, and also helped in various training programs. Renee was involved with teaching French at the small MK elementary school the boys attended, and later in teaching French and other subjects at the middle school / high school. See more details in Joint Ministry under History.
Currently Kendall is continuing his involvement in training of Africans as 25% of his work. This involves working long distance with a linguistic intern as a mentor and traveling back to Cameroon to teach in training sessions once a year.
The other 75% of his work will be in linguistic computer support, helping other use a tool that can help them gain insights about languages, also to improve accuracy and naturalness in translation. More details can be found in the section on Vision and Ministry.
Renee is looking for an education-related job in the US.
Currently Kendall and Renee are sharing their ministry in order to increase their partnership team to meet their US budget goal. Once they have reached that goal, Kendall will be cleared to start his linguistic computing role.
