The Bride
Born 10 March 1980 in Twin Falls, Idaho, Kelli spent her childhood reading books and playing in the sunshine before attending Princeton University where she continued to read books (now in Greek and Latin; playing, especially in the sunshine was relegated to summers). After a year of city living in the Big Apple, she went on to complete her PhD at the University of Cambridge where she met the man of her dreams. Kelli is now assistant professor of ancient philosophy in Grand Rapids, Michigan eight months of the year; during the other four she wanders the library halls (or is that station platforms?) of England. Kelli loves to move (she's moved every year for the last ten years) and would spend all of her time abroad if she were allowed. Most of her favourite places are Mediterranean, but its hard to beat a cool summer morning in the Sawtooth mountains with the smell of pancakes wafting through the cabin! The Bridal Party
Born 3 March 1981 in Exeter, Dunstan wasted most of his youth playing video games and watching TV in the southwest of England before attending the University of Birmingham where he continued to play computer games and read Latin. He went on to complete his PhD at University of Cambridge where he also met the beguiling (or is that bewildering?) Kelli! Having completed his PhD in Latin Literature, he is now a lecturer at University of Reading where he still spends his time playing computer games and reading Latin, but now it's called RESEARCH!! ;) He likes to swim in the sea, hunt for strange animals in caves and pools and he loves to eat custard slices. His loves to travel and he especially likes the chipmunks! Read all about Dunstan's Family here!
The Groomsmen
Crispin Lowe
Princeton 2002 (L-R): Anina, Rebecca, Kelli and Nellie
Anina Kellman (née Terry)
Crispin is an obvious choice for Best Man, with his level-headedness and intimate knowledge of coffee. He left the Westcountry to become a Londoner during his degree in Japanese at SOAS (where he also picked up some Chinese and a little Korean), and also lived in Japan. He is currently doing a postgraduate degree in Translation Studies in Exeter, where he is also a proficient and underappreciated barista. (Dunstan now orders a dry foam macchiato in any coffee shop where he thinks he can get away with it.)
Joshua Rudolph
Anina is one of Kelli's freshman year roommates from Princeton and her favourite travel partner. She currently lives in Washington, DC with her husband Sean, who very graciously put up with the five girls who invaded his hallway in the old Butler College (ah, those long-gone waffle-filled days!). She introduced Kelli to quilting, on-the-go scrapbooking and Sinterklaas. Nellie Bronner (née Barnes)
Joshua, Kelli's little brother, will not surprise us if he brings lots of energy to the happy occasion. Raised in the mountain country of Idaho, they both love the outdoors: Joshua's favourite activities include golf and snowboarding. However, his real calling is the church, specifically the Abundant Life Christian Center, where he is Assistant Pastor and can sometimes be seen preaching in live broadcasts. He is the proud husband of Catherine, Executive Pastor at the ALCC. With their many commitments in Texas (and indeed abroad), we are extra glad they can come to the wedding. As you can see from the picture, they have gone to England already - now that's punctual.
Katie Davis
Nellie shared rooms, walls and a final syllable with Kelli at Princeton. Nellie also shared her futon with Kelli during frequent stopovers in NYC. Nellie lives in Brooklyn with her husband Greg. Together they're working to save the world from (another) economic collapse, or something like that.
Rebecca Kemp
Katie is an honorary 'groomsman', as one of the groom's longest-standing friends. Although they met in Exeter, it was only on going away to Universities (Aberystwyth and Birmingham respectively) that KT and Dunstan really hit it off. (Yes, email was around that long ago, although you had to bring your own firewood to stoke up the village modem.) With a modern 'pen pal', Dunstan found much entertainment and support during the inevitable bumps in the undergraduate road, and hopefully provided some in return. Katie is a hard scientist by trade--mathematics applied to physics is one description--and lives with Nicky in Abingdon. She likes things that are right-on and rural, and is a card-carrying citizen of the alternative Eighties.
Rebecca and Kelli have lots in common--not only were they freshman year roommates at Princeton, they also shared a major! Rebecca now lives in North Carolina where she still shares Kelli's passion for libraries, though from the other side of the circulation desk!
Valentina Di Lascio
Valentina and Kelli met during their M.Phil at Cambridge and over the course of the next five years spent many hours together reading philosophy, watching films and eating chocolate cake (occasionally more cake than philosophy)! They graduated together for the second time in July 2009 with PhDs in Ancient Philosophy. Valentina is currently a Leverhulme Fellow at the University of Durham.
