When I have the time, I have an interest in music and sound technology and play keyboard/synth/piano/organ (almost all at the same time!). I have been involved in various musical activities and have composed some of my own music that you can listen to via music.download.com. In recent months/years I have taken up an interest in Family History and over the past few months been on a trail that starts off in Calton, Glasgow with a grocer by the name of Henry Reid, one of his sons was a surgeon (William Reid 1810-1883), vaccinator and later secretary to the Cow Pock Institution in Glasgow. Some of William's papers allude to none other than Edward Jenner and Napoleon!
In turn one of Williams sons (also called Henry)was minister of Irvine Relief UP church 1868-1886. After that time he along with his wife Catherine and children William and James set sail for Melbourne Australia. James was married in 1898 and tragically killed 2 months later when he was involved in an accident on the Railways. William fought in WWI through which he was blown up and lost his eyesight, he died 1955 in Bendigo Benevolent Home.
