CLIFFORD JAMES ANGUS was born at Pyramid Hill on the 17 June 1897. He was 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighed 10 stone 6 lb. He was an electtician.

Clifford was listed in his miltary file as being of fair complexion with blue eyes and dark curly hair. His religion was presbyterian, He had enlisted in the Australian Army on the 23 July 1915. At this time he was single and living with his mother at 68 Gifford Street, Warrnambool.

Clifford embarked for overseas service on the HMAT 'Commonwealth' on the 20 November 1915. He received a gunshot wound on the 21 July 1916 to the left thigh and was admitted to the 3rd Canadian Stationary Hospital before being transferred to the Ontario Hospital. In February 1916 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. He served with the 57 Battalion and on the 15 June 1917 was promoted to Sergeant Major but on the 6 June 1918 asked that his rank be reverted to Sergeant.

Clifford was once again wounded with a gunshot wound to the hand on the 5 July 1918. He was repatriated to Australia on the9 December 918.

He married LOUISA MAUD TITHERIDGE in 1920.

Louisa, daughter of Frederick Titheridge and Rachel Homewood, was born at Ballarat East on the 23 October 1895 and died in New South Wales on the 29 December 1998, aged 103.

Clifford was killed in a car and truck accident at Broadford, victoria on the 31 October 1946, aged 49.
