CoNCH Lab Goes to ARO!

Ingrid Johnsrude, Bjorn Herrmann, Ysabel Domingo, and former post-docs Emma Holmes, Alex Billig, and Julia Huyck attended the 41st Annual Midwinter Meeting of the Association of Research in Otolaryngology in San Diego, California.

Alex and Emma co-moderated a symposium called Non-Acoustic Influences on Speech Perception in Normal and Impaired Hearing. Alex gave a talk on "Linguistic Knowledge Affects Auditory Streaming of Speech: Insights from Intracranial Recordings and Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging", and Emma's talk was titled, "Talker familiarity improves speech understanding in the presence of simultaneous talkers".

Bjorn, Alex, and Ysabel presented posters. Bjorn and Alex were part of the Auditory Cortex, Speech, and Music poster session. Bjorn's poster was about "Sound pattern processing: Neural synchronization and sustained neural activity", and Alex's poster was "Alpha Oscillations Within Human Auditory Cortex: An Intracranial Electrophysiology Study". Ysabel's poster was part of the Attention, Audiovisual Integration & Sound Localization session and was called "Using spatial release from masking to estimate the magnitude of the familiar-voice intelligibility benefit".
