Getting started

To get the project underway we've done the following:

1. Set up this Google Site and set everyone up from Oxford, De Montfort and Lincoln with accounts
2. Set up a Google Group so we can all discuss different aspects of the project
3. Agreed a project meeting in Leicester on 6th April
4. Started pulling data out of data.ox.ac.uk to learn how to construct SPARQL queries and use the data with the Google Visualisation API
5. Created a reading list
6. Started designing the project workshops
7. Started brainstorming electricity meter visualisations

The focus at this stage is on the literature review and the design of the workshops. It is immediately evident that there has been a great deal of previous work in the general area of information visualisation and reducing resource consumption.

Our hunch at this stage is that what will be different about our approach is the emphasis on openness.
