JOSEPH FOLLETT
Joseph Follett was born in Roxbury, Delaware County, New York on June 17, 1814. He was the son of Elijah Follett and Sabra Hill. Little is known about his early life in New York or of his parents.
During 1842, Joseph was baptized into the LDS Church. He was about 32 years old at the time of his baptism. Two years later, in 1844, Joseph married Cynthia Styles, who was born in Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
Joseph and Cynthia were the parents of eight children. The first born, Joseph, Jr, was born in 1845 in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, birthplace of his mother. Sabra Ann, our ancestor and the second child, was born in Stuben County, New York, near where her father was born. From the birthplaces of their children, we learn that they moved Aout westto Ohio, to Huron County, where their next three children were born. Their seventh child was born in Henry County, Ohio and their last child was born in 1861 at Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie County, Iowa. This was the place where the Saints moved following their expulsion from Nauvoo and was the Church headquarters prior to the trek across the prairie to the Rocky Mountains.
Joseph and his family are listed on the Nauvoo List of members, so we know that they lived in that city for a while. Nauvoo was only occupied by the Saints from 1839 through 1846.
Joseph and Sabra were pioneers and crossed the plains. After reaching Utah, they settled up north in Weston, Franklin County, Idaho, where Joseph died in 1897 and Sabra Ann died on June 2, 1900.
