Irene Merrell Gale, born April 23, 1898, was interviewed on June 15, 1976, in Richland, Washington, by John Hoopes, husband of her grand-daughter, Myrna Gale, using a simple cassette tape recorder. The recording has been separated into the following tracks:
1. My birth
2. Brother Bernard’s birth in 1904
3. Brother Sterling’s birth in 1919
4. My first date - marriage to Luther Gale
5. Births of each of our children
6. One thing that would make the most interesting movie
7. Goals for your life
8. Daughter Mildred, and Testimony
9. Music played by John Hoopes on a pump/reed organ made in 1892. The tune is “Gentle Annie,” by Stephen Foster. This was possibly Brigham Young’s favorite melody for singing Eliza Roxy Snow Smith Young’s (one of his wife’s) beloved lyrics: “O My Father.”
