Obvious examples of craziness
"A certain amount of chaos is the true state of an enterprise" (Melville)
Ubiquitous craziness is the true state of humankind.
Religion: man-made concepts can not explain what is beyond our understanding
Autonomy: individually we depend on other people and nationally we depend on other countries
Capitalism: striving for individual profit is detrimental to shared goals, such as a sustainable earth.
Denial of the past: few people acknowledge that current US dominance is based on genocide and slavery
Denial of the presence: laws formulated 200 years ago are inadequate to adjudicate current conflicts.
Denial of the future: global warming and population growth will make the earth uninhabitable
Some joy: people erupt in joy when their country gains one more penalty shot in the World Cup
Some fear: fear of death and taboo on euthanasia even when life has become unbearable
Some power: bombing Ukraine into submission while Russia's own infrastructure is crumbling without bombs
