    • Classes will be Monday and Wednesday (4 hours starting at 6:00 PM) and every other Saturday (8 hours)
    • Some schedule accomodations can be made
  • Who teaches the class?:
  • EMS Captain Bob Manni (Paramedic) and Deputy Chief Howie Tighe (EMT-Cardiac) are both EMT-Instructor Coordinators with the state of RI. They will lead the class with the help/support of other licensed EMTs in the department as well as professionals from other services.
  • How much does it cost?:
  • FREE ... Ideally, we are looking for people interested in developing and using these skills to help their neighbors as a member of the all-volunteer Jamestown Fire Department ... for those folks, we appreciate the time you'll put in and the cost is FREE. If circumstances don't allow you to make this commitment, you are still welcome to sign-up for the class at a cost of $1600 + books.
  • So what is this "commitment" you mentioned in the cost section?
    • To answer that, you'll need some background info:
    • - The JFD EMS division staffs a "duty crew" to respond to EMS emergencies in Jamestown 24/7/365
    • - Each day is divided into 3 shifts (0600-1200; 1200-1800; and 1800-0600)
    • - Each "duty crew" consists of 1 driver and 2-3 EMTs (one of which is the Officer In Charge "OIC" of the duty-crew)
    • After students earn their RI EMT- CARDIAC License, we ask that they regularly serve (one shift per week) on a JFD duty crew for a year.
