Tara

Tara is adopted by Jack Finn from UMass Amherst. Tara was captured in the Ipswich Mills Dam box trap and tagged on April 23, 2007, and released at the capture site.

Tara was last seen by the stationary receiver at Site 1, our final receiver in the array,  on May 1, 2007 at 12:58 pm.

April 23, 7:00 pm: Tara is tagged and released from the Ipswich Mills Dam box trap (near Site 2) and set on her way.

April 25, 12:32 am: Tara is out of range of our stationary receivers for over a full day. She may be swimming in the broad area of the river between the sites. We finally see her on the 25th upstream at Site 3, where she stays for about a half hour.

April 25, 3:05 am: Tara turns to head back downstream, and stays in the area of Site 2 for about two and a half hours.

April 25, 3:23 pm: After spending some time between sites again, Tara shows up briefly to Site 3.

April 25, 5:40 pm: Tara moves back downstream to Site 2.

April 25, 6:59 pm: It's been a busy day moving up and downstream! Tara seems to take a break and stays in the upstream area at Site 3 until the following day. She moves out of range of this receiver at 1:02 in the afternoon, April 26.

April 27, 5:57 am: Tara decides it's time to explore further, and starts moving upstream where she is picked up by the receiver at Site 4. The water here moves faster than the water at Sites 1 and 2, and she spends a few hours within range of this receiver.

April 27, 2:38 pm: Tara swims quickly past the receiver at Site 5, a narrow section of the river. She continues her way upstream but we do not hear from her again until...

April 30, 5:48 am: Tara arrives to the receiver at Site 6, the Willowdale Dam. She is picked up only by the downstream antenna, which is pointed across the USGS gaging weir. Tara is heard by this antenna until her last hit at 2:12 pm.

April 30, 9:49 pm: Tara heads downstream after departing from the Willowdale Dam, and is heard by the receiver at Site 5. She continues heading downstream and passes this receiver quickly.

May 1, 5:02 am: In the morning, Tara arrives to the Site 4 receiver, but also passes by this one quickly.

May 1, 9:33 am: Tara keeps moving downstream, reaching the Site 3 receiver later in the morning.

May 1, 11:55 am: Tara is heard by the receiver at Site 2 where she was released. She is now at the Ipswich Mills Dam, which she passes over and continues to move downstream.

May 1, 12:24 pm: Tara reaches the last receiver in our array at Site 1. She remains in range of this receiver for about a half hour, then continues on her way and is not heard by our receivers again.
