Queequeg

Queequeg is adopted by W. Schmitt. Queequeg is a Nemasket origin fish stocked to the Ipswich River on April 30. After capture, tagging, and transport, Queequeg and 625 other fish were stocked to the Ipswich River to help restore the population there.

Queequeg was last seen by the stationary receiver at Site 8 in the Great Wenham Swamp on May 1, 2007 at 5:56 pm.

April 30: Queequeg was collected from the Nemasket River in Middleborough, then transported to the Ipswich River and stocked in Topsfield at the Stocking Site. He spends his first night in the new river out of range of the stationary receivers.

May 1, 5:21 pm: Queequeg makes his first appearance at the Site 8 receiver, downstream of the stocking site. Despite extensive tracking throughout the river in this area, we have not been able to relocate Queequeg. He may have entered the Bunker Meadows pond, which connects to the Ipswich River during high water. We have located several other fish in this pond, but Queequeg may be in a different area of the pond that we have not fully searched yet. Hopefully we will find out what Queequeg has been up to soon!
