The CadiLonians Scottish Country Dance Club (the new name of the Jerez Group) was the host of the 30th Iberian Gathering in the city of Cádiz, known as “La Tacita de Plata” (The Little Silver Cup). In Cádiz, more than three thousand years of history are evident on every corner. It’s also famous for its welcoming culture, lively carnivals and beautiful beaches. Located on Spain’s unspoilt Atlantic coast, the architecture of the city and the character of its people have been shaped by the sea, the light and the wind.
The event was held at the exclusive 4-star “Hotel Cádiz Bahía” overlooking the beach. The ballroom is spacious with plenty of room to dance. There are chill out areas, a spa, swimming pools and direct beach access. All rooms have electric kettles. Parking at the hotel is 18€ per day. The address and phone number of the hotel are: Cádiz Bahía Hotel, Glorieta Ana Orantes 5, 11010 Cádiz. Tel: +34 856 62 46 24
The confirmed prices for the whole weekend including accommodation for 2 nights, 2 breakfasts, 2 dinners with drinks included, 2 balls, walkthroughs and 2 classes with live music were 270€ per person in a double room, 240€ per person in a triple room and 390€ for a single room.
EXTRA NIGHTS and EXTRA ACTIVITIES: There were discounted prices for extra nights, and the organizers also obtained a limited number of free tickets for the local tourist bus. There was a dance event with a local folk dance group on Thursday at 6.30 p.m and a pop-up dance event on Saturday at 1 p.m.. Information about these activities was available here, including how to register for them.
A deposit of 100€ was required by 17th October 2025 and the balance was required by 15th January 2026. The amount of the deposit was the same for everyone, regardless of the type of room. The deposits were paid in the first instance to the group via which participants had booked, who forwarded them, collected together, to the organisers. The balance was also paid via the group with which participants had booked. Booking via one of the Iberian groups is done to reduce the workload of the organising group, and should be done wherever possible.
The musicians at the event were Ewan Galloway and Shona MacFadyen and the teacher was Andrew Nolan.
How to book/register your interest: As noted above, booking via one of the Iberian groups is preferred. However, if you need to contact the main organizing group, you can write to them at cadilonians (a) gmail.com (when sending an email, just replace (a) with @ ) . The organisers recommend filling in a health and emergency form and keeping it with your event badge, adding that you should wear the badge at all times!
