Not my will but Yours be done
When we rule as a king on this earth, we are building God's kingdom, not our own kingdom.
Therefore, we build according to the will of the Father in heaven, not our own will.
1. We make decrees on earth that are in accordance with the will of the Father in heaven.
We build with our decrees according to the blueprint and pattern we see in heaven, not according to our own plans and desires.
Like Jesus, we must always say to Abba Father, "Not my will, but Yours be done."
Matthew 6:19-10
9 This, then, is how you should pray:
“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 Your kingdom come,
Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."
Luke 22:42
42 "Father, if You are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but Yours be done."
2. Do not decree the desires of the flesh.
The flesh is our old way of thinking and living.
The flesh will always do things that are demonic and selfish and destructive.
The flesh will always lust for power and fame and money and selfish gain.
We must not decree according to the desires of our flesh.
The flesh does not submit to the will of the Father in heaven.
If we decree according to our flesh, we are allowing the devil to work through us and bring death to ourselves and to others through our decrees.
Romans 8:5-8
5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.
8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
E.g. Do not say in anger, "This worker of mine is a lazy and stupid worker."
Instead, we are to pray for him, and then begin to declare, "This worker of mine is a good and hard-working and smart worker."
And what you decree as a king will come to pass before your eyes.
Of course, when our worker (or our son or daughter) has done a piece of work wrongly, we are to point our his fault to him, and correct him by teaching him to do it right the next time.
But we must not curse him or our son or our daughter or anyone else just because that that person may have done a something wrong.
3. We must decree only what the word of God says are His plans for His children and for all men and for all creation.
The will of Abba Father has been forever established in heaven.
Through His word, God reveals to us His will and His plans and blueprint for all men.
We must therefore decree only what has been revealed by the word of God from heaven.
We must decree what has already been decreed in heaven.
Matthew 16:19 NIV Margin
19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will have been loosed in heaven.
Matthew 16:19 AMPC
19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven.
E.g. Jesus has given all believers the Great Commission.
Therefore, all believers must obey the Great Commission, and share the Good news of the Kingdom of Heaven with all creation, making disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15-16).
And we can declare: "Everyone in this Church will arise and fulfill the Great Commission, by going, giving, praying and sending."
It is a curse to say what you see and not what you have asked God for.
Therefore do not say, "Many in this church are lazy and lukewarm and do not have compassion on the lost and will not obey the Great Commission."
Instead, pray and believe that God has answered, and decree according to the Father's will.
4. We must also decree what the Holy Spirit reveals to us concerning a specific direction in the plans of God for our lives.
Through God's word, we know the general will of God for all men; and our decrees must always be in line with the Father's will
Through the Holy Spirit, we will receive specific directives for our own personal lives.
We must also make decrees in accordance with the specific directives of the Holy Spirit.
E.g. The Holy Spirit may say specifically to you, "Go and make disciples of the foreign workers from Vietnam in Malaysia.
If that is God's will for you, you must begin to decree: "God will open doors for me to share the Good News of the Kingdom of Heaven with the Vietnamese workers in Malaysia."
And as you decree in faith, it will come to pass.
E.g. Paul and Silas receive specific directions from the Holy Spirit to go on a missionary journey to Europe as they were praying with other believers.
Acts 13:2-5
2 While they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."
3 So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.
4 The two of them, sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus.
5 When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. John was with them as their helper.
E.g. While Paul and Silas were going through Phrygia and Galatia (in modern-day Turkey), the Holy Spirit did not allow them to preach the word there, or to go to the north, but directed them to move westwards.
It was much later that the Holy Spirit allowed Paul to preach in these regions.
Acts 16:6-7
6 Paul and his companions travelled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia. 7 When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.
Thus we only do the specific assignments that the Spirit has revealed to us, and we only speak and decree the specific will of the Father that the Holy Spirit has shown to us.
Likewise, Jesus only spoke what He has heard from the Father in heaven.
And He only did what the Father has asked Him to do.
John 12:49
49 For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken.
John 6:38
38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of Him who sent me.
