Digital storytelling is the result of students applying technology tools to share a story. Like more traditional writing assignments, digital stories have a specific theme, represent a certain point of view, and have a purpose (to entertain, to persuade, to inform, or a combination of these three).
Using digital storytelling in the classroom gives the students (and the teacher) another way to share knowledge. Most educational digital stories last 2-10 minutes; include a writing, editing, revising, and publishing process; and allow flexibility for differentiation and individual interests.
