Document preparation & Identifying Metrics
Check Document corners,Edges may be Folded,Torn
Identify folded document corners, edges (a corner or an edge of the physical document has been folded, causing an area of the document image to be missing and obscured).
Torn document corners, edges (a missing corner or edge in the physical document, resulting in an area of the document image to be missing).
Dust free,Pin removal,Sure path verification
Dust free environment helping less noise in your image, removing staples, paper clips, sorting if needed. Removing paperclips and staples helpful to maintain scaner guidelines life, free flow with out stuck, torn while scanning Ensure scanner paper feeding path ,sure path helpful for physical document damage
Understand file format
Scanning document image file format is the most important for scanning and internet use,we consider tif,jpg and gif. Tif format cannot be used in internet pages, browsers
TIF Format
RGB Mode will take 24 or 48 bits per pixel,Grayscale Mode will take 8 or 16 bits per pixel,Indexed color Mode will take 1 to 8 bits per pixel,Line Art (bitonal) Mode will take 1 per pixel
Compression:
For TIF files, most programs allow either no compression or LZW compression (lossless, but is less effective for 24 bit color images).Document Monotype allow ITCC G3 or G4 compression for 1 bit text (Faxis G3 or G4 TIF files), which is lossless and tremendously effective(small).
JPG Format
RGB Mode will take 24 bits per pixel,Grayscale Mode will take 8 bits per pixel
Compression:
JPEG always uses lossy JPG compression, but jpeg's degree is selectable, for higher quality and larger files, or lower quality and smaller files.
Gif Format
Indexed color Mode will take 1 to 8 bits per pixel
Compression
GIF uses lossless LZW compression, effective on indexed color. GIF files contain no dpi information for printing purposes.
DPI Consideration
DPI (Dots per inch) The number of dots or pixels per each inch of a printed or scanned image,For example We scan a Sheet, scanning something for that is 2" x 2" and We scan at 300 DPI, We will get an image that is 600 x 600 pixels. If my original was 8" x 10", We will get a result of 2400 x 3000 pixels Note that if my image size is say 2400x3000 pixels, then this is 2400x3000 = 6800000 pixels (6.8 megapixels). If this 6.8 megapixel image data is RGB color (if 24 bits, or 3 bytes per pixel of RGB color information), then the size of this image data is 6.8 x 3 bytes RGB = 20.4 MB (Wow How Big size?). Then file compression like JPG or LZW can make the file smaller, but when you open the image in computer memory for use, the JPG may not still have the same image quality, but it is always still 2400x3000 pixels and 20.4 Mb.At the time of scanning When You increase the DPI that Increase image Quality and File Size We Recommend 200 dpi or 300 dpi is sufficient 300 Dpi is pretty good for ocr purposes when you 600 dpi you can get very clear OCR details
Decide JPG or TIF
There are many choices, its good and reasonable choice Internet pages require JPG or GIF or PNG image types, because that is all that browsers can show. On the web, JPG is the best choice (smallest file, with quality being less important than size) for photo images, and GIF is common for graphic images. GIF works quite well for video graphics on the internet.
Other than the Internet Purpose, TIF file format is the undisputed leader when best quality is required (when less than maximum quality is not a consideration). So TIF is very common in commercial or professional printing environments. High Quality JPG can be pretty good too, but don't ruin them by making them too small. If the goal is high quality, then only consider making JPG large instead, and plan your work so you can only save them one or two times.
