Given For: MVP for the IHV Premier A regular season

The President's Medal is awarded to the the MVP of the Ice Hockey Victoria Premier A season. A new medal is awarded each year and presented by the Ice Hockey Victoria President.

History

The President's Medal was first awarded in 1954 by, then President, George Hewitt. The medal was awarded based on a voting system where after each game the referees would allocate votes for who they felt were the best players on the ice for that game. At the end of the season these votes would be collected and tallied to decide the recipient of the President's Medal. The system is like the Australian Football League's Brownlow Medal and people would express that the referees should not have been made to vote.[1]
