History
Kurt DeFris had begun his storied career in ice hockey in the year of 1955 as manager of the Arkana Ice Hockey Club and Vice President of the Victorian Ice Hockey Association. DeFris was part of the league management committee with the Hakoah Sports Club, known for becoming the first successful non-Anglo migrant backed club in the state of Victoria. The dominant Raiders Ice Hockey Club, also with large numbers of post World War 2 migrants, would engage with the sports club and take on their name Raiders-Hakoah.
With Kurt DeFris managing the Arkana Ice Hockey Club as well, he would merge with the Raiders-Hakoah the following year in 1956 to form the Raiders-Hakoah-Arkana Ice Hockey Club.
