1929 VIHA Season

League Business

This season the league would expand to 4 teams, with the formation of the Hawthorn.[1]

There were 2 new rule changes:

"A new rule governing the puck-up was tried, and proved successful. Instead of being spun In the air by the referee, the puck was laid flat on the ice and a whistle blown as the signal for play."

"Body checking was forbidden within five feet of the boundary boards for the first time. A rule such as this has been badly needed. It should save nasty spills Into the boards. All puck-ups were made five feet from the boundary. Early success of this Innovation was undoubted, for not one double puck-up was necessary all night."
