An excerpt from the Wellington Classic Yacht Trust
new collection on our website. This collection belonged to Grahame Anderson, author of the book "Fast light boats", who passed away recently. He himself was a champion sailor, and among his accomplishments was winning the Moffat Cup in 1955 crewing on Barney Scully's Windhover III.
The photos are all of the Idle Along class in Wellington, from the 1930s through to the 1960s, and many appear to have once belonged to Alf Harvey, who designed the class in 1926. Possibly Grahame had borrowed them from his family during his research. The majority are of Heretaunga Boating Club boats: http://wcyt.org.nz/…/method__getCategoryP…/_categoryId__6121
Grahame had kindly agreed to write a history of the IA for the Idle Along Association of NZ - but sadly this will never happen. Rest in peace another great IA sailor and sailing historian.
