What is a Safe Senders List in Hotmail?

A safe senders list (a whitelist) is a list of email addresses from which you want to receive without being filtered. By default, emails that you add to this list are considered safe and will not be arranged in your junk email folder.

How to add an email address to your Safe Sender List in Hotmail and Outlook?

In the old Outlook

Step 1: Log into your Hotmail (Outlook) account.

Step 2: Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner and select Options.

Step 3: In the Mail section, click Safe senders.

Step 4: Enter an email address and click the plus icon.

Step 5: Click Save.

In the Outlook.com beta

Step 1: Log into your Hotmail (now Outlook) account.

Step 2: Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner. A drop-down menu will appear.

Step 3: Scroll to the bottom and select View full settings.

Step 4: In the Mail section, click Junk email.

Step 5: Scroll down to the Safe senders section, enter a sender's email address or domain you want to receive emails from and click Add.

Step 6: Click Save to save your changes.

How to remove an email address from your Safe Sender List in Hotmail and Outlook?

Step 1: Log into your Hotmail (Outlook) account.

Step 2: Click the gear icon at the top right and select Options from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: In the Mail section, select Safe senders.

If you use the Outlook.com beta, just follow step 1 to 4 above then find the Safe senders section.

Step 4: Click on the email address that you want to remove from the list and click the trash icon.

Step 5: Click Save.
