At Texas A&M I am one of the Faculty Senate senators representing the University Libraries. I have also served and serve on various committees within the library and across campus.
At Sam Houston State University, I served as Chair for Sam Houston State University's QEP Engaging Spaces Committee. The purpose of the committee is to support implementation of active learning strategies in instructional spaces across campus that are traditionally challenged by the constraints of the space. The committee issued a campus call annually for candidate instructional spaces that would fit our mission and vision for active learning. Once awarded, the committee then coordinates the renovation of the space and supports the faculty members' subsequent use of active learning in their new, engaging space. Over the course of five years, we renovated 5 spaces, at an expended budget of approximately $600k, with three additional spaces scheduled for 2023-24, and positively impacted student retention in high-DFQ lower-level courses.
I have also served on the G.U.I.A. Planning Committee. G.U.I.A. (the Graduate/Undergraduate Instructor Academy) hosts a professional development event at the beginning of each regular semester for students that are employed in roles supporting instruction and student success at SHSU.
