At Texas A&M I served as one of two Faculty Senators representing the University Libraries, culminating service as a member of the Executive Committee and as a member of the FS/FAC Transition Team. I have also served on various committees within the library and across campus.
At Sam Houston State University, I was Chair for Sam Houston State University's QEP Engaging Spaces Space [re]Design Committee. The committee's purpose was to work with faculty to redesign traditional, fixed instructional spaces to support implementation of active learning strategies. The committee issued a campus call annually for candidate spaces that fit the QEP's vision. Once awarded, the committee then coordinated space renovation and supported faculty members' use of active learning strategies in the new, engaging space. Five spaces were renovated in five years at an overall expended budget of ~$600k, with three additional spaces completed in 2023-24. Data on courses held in the subject spaces reflected a positive impact on student retention in high-DFQ lower-level courses.
I have also served on the G.U.I.A. Planning Committee. G.U.I.A. (the Graduate/Undergraduate Instructor Academy) hosts a professional development event at the beginning of each regular semester for students that are employed in roles supporting instruction and student success at SHSU.
