Q. A Instructor's schedule can be hectic. How have you designed professional development to ensure accessibility for the faculty and staff?
A. Instruction has always been the name of the game – face-to-face and, upon occasion, online. To ensure best use of participants' time, I have worked to maintain a web-based portal where downloadable reference guides or links to sample strategies can be accessed, how-to manuals can be printed or viewed via video, and other resources can be accessed when the participant needs the information (for instance, they may be conducting research at midnight but I might not be available at that time, so the online resources are crucial to keep them productive…especially if the project is due the next day).
To enable true anywhere, anytime professional development, I have also offered courses online via eduphora, including online assessments and opportunities for participants to actively participate in dialogue with other participants. I have also developed online coursework for students using Edmodo and Moodle following a similar, though more controlled, format.
