When approaching Sugarloaf via the phone building, please take the trail straight back, up, then left. If you turn left just behind the phone building, and hike up the old road, you are trespassing on private property.
Parking and access from the school may only be done on weekends or at other times when the school is closed.
As of January, 2015, large oak trees have fallen on numerous parts of the trail, especially around Sugarbun, about midway up the main trail, and on the access to the West Butt. To access the base of the West Butt, just above the point where the "main" trail turns right/east and goes up along Split Rock, look for a large downed & burnt pine tree with its burnt stump, about 5m or 6m off the trail. Pass by the butt-end of the log, then traverse over to the base of the West Butt. Otherwise, rap in from the top.
