The Grant Program is designed to support curriculum enrichment as well as school resources. Teachers and staff are encouraged to apply for grants to fund enrichment programs, performances and other opportunities as well as to fund supplies, equipment, and other experiences which will have a direct and beneficial impact on the quality of education for students. Edward M. Kennedy Institute of the Senate 8th Grade Field Trip- $500
This grant funds an 8th Grade field trip to the Edward M. Kennedy Institute of the Senate to participate in a Senate Immersion Module centered on climate change. Students will move through a variety of activities that allow them to engage with both the issues surrounding climate change and the processes and procedures of our legislative branch. After participating in small group activities, students will be reunited in the Institute’s replica Senate chambers where they will assume the role of American Senators and engage in respectful debate around a proposed climate change bill before casting their votes. This program is a wonderful opportunity to bring the legislative process to life for students.
Second Grade Discovery Museum Field Trip – $905
This grant funds a visiting field trip from the Discovery Museum in Acton, where students will learn through in-class presentations and be able to do a range of hands-on science activities.
SAIL Classroom Grant - $1,180
The SAIL classroom is in need of more storage to decrease clutter and improve safety within the classroom. It also lets us set up opportunities to encourage our students to request items that they prefer using functional communication.
Massachusetts History Bowl State Championships Grant- $198
On February 8, 2025, one varsity level and one middle school level history bowl teams will compete in the Massachusetts State Championships in Scituate. We would love some help in the entrance fee ($99 for each team). This event is a great chance for our history-loving students to push themselves against other schools, while networking with other students based on a love for a common subject. Students always learn a lot through the experience of competing in at least five rounds of history bowl, with a possible playoff entrance at the end. This grant would cover the entrance fee for students.
Gift Cards for Students and Families- $600
This grant provides $600 worth of gift cards from various area vendors including: Target, AllTown, Chipotle, Burger King, Five Guys, Shop and Save and Panera. These gift cards will be used at the discretion of school administration for a variety of student support reasons, including families in need, positive behavioral supports and incentives.
Senior Lunch - $500
After the last graduation rehearsal, the TBS Principal hosts a pizza lunch outside with all the seniors as the last event
before graduation! This grant funds pizza and drinks for the event.
Class of 2029 End of Year Celebration & Moving-On Ceremony - $400
This grant supports the 8th grade Team’s day of celebration of students for completing their middle school experience and moving on to high school through a graduation-like event called 8th Grade End of Year Celebration on June 16th, 2025. This whole day endeavor includes a breakfast event in the cafeteria and a graduation-like ceremony in the afternoon. This grant specifically supports the breakfast event: a time for students to reflect, celebrate, and sign each other's yearbooks in the cafeteria, and the afternoon ceremony with families through supplies to individually recognize students, as well as supplies for food and decorations.
First Grade NE Botanical Garden Field Trip Bus - $530
This grant provides transportation to the New England Botanical Gardens for the 1st Grade Class Field Trip. While at the Gardens, the students will: Use evidence to explain that (a) different animals use their body parts and senses in different ways to see, hear, grasp objects, and protect themselves, and more and (b) plants have roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits that are used to take in water, air, and other nutrients, and product food for the plant.
5th Grade social - $165
This grant provides the fifth grade class with snacks and drinks for the 5th grade end of the year social event. This is an annual event, two years running, for our fifth graders to relax and celebrate their last year at HES together.
Bromfield Senior Athlete Breakfast- $560
Each year we honor our senior athletes, coaches and families with an in-person light breakfast. The grant covers the cost of the senior athletes. Each year the seniors look forward to the slideshow and awards ceremony.
