Alyce, age 88, passed away at Nazareth Nursing Home, Stoughton. Alyce was born the daughter of Carl and Bessie (Green) Wissmann. She graduated from Hackley Hospital School of Nursing in Muskegon, Mich., in 1939. Alyce served as a nurse in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945, earning the rank of first lieutenant. She was primarily stationed in Australia and New Guinea, but also served in Manila and Okinawa, including service on various hospital ships. It was during her military service that she met Alvin Bone, whom she married on Dec. 27, 1945, in Montague, MI. They made their home in Evansville, where she worked for many years as an R.N. for Dr. Samuel Sorkin. Alyce was a member of Evansville United Methodist Church and had been active in the church women's group.
She was an excellent cook, enjoyed time with family and friends, loved to play bridge and had a great appreciation for music. Alyce is survived by two daughters, JoAnn Inghram of Marathon, FL, and Jacqui (Dave) Landerud of McFarland, WI; four grandsons, Jeffrey and Robert Hwang, and Christopher and Peter Landerud; a great-granddaughter, Autumn Hwang; and extended family, including many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Eric Hwang; son-in-law, John Inghram; and all nine of her sisters and brothers. Funeral services were held at Ward Funeral Home, Evansville, WI. Burial followed the service at Evansville Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Nazareth House or the Alzheimer's Association.
